The Vertical Storage Tanks are ideal for the storage of a wide variety of liquids. Available in carbon and stainless steel, Highland Vertical Tanks for the storage of flammable and combustible liquids bear the manufacturing standards to API650 or other standards as required.
The tanks material can be stainless or steel carbon steel with special treatment against special applications.
Minimum testing should include:
- Vacuum box testing of the bottom welds
- X-ray inspection % (not applicable for bottom or bottom/shell seam or roof + some other exceptions in API650)
- Water filling (before painting) (also sea water can be used if the surfaces are washed properly after)
- Alternative method instead of water filling (large tanks / water shortage). Penetration liquid.
Tank erection methods
Different tank erection methods can be utilized depending on the preference by owner and consultants. Most common methods are:
- Progressive assembly and welding. (Most common method, recommended method)
- Complete assembly followed by welding of horizontal seams (Not recommended for big tanks (>3 shells layers) and in windy areas))
- Jacking -Up method. (Preferred if available locally and use of suitable equipment since most work is performed on the ground level)
- Flotation method (Seldom used, not preferred)
